Colleen’s teaching career focused from preschool to grade 5 in the public school system and Manitoba School for the Deaf, where her roles included classroom teacher, literacy support teacher and resource teacher for the last 18 years. She has supported learning, language and literacy skills for children from infant-school age as an early intervention specialist for children who are Deaf and hard of hearing. Her support involves strategies parents and caregivers can implement in homes and daycares to promote and enhance communication for young children who are Deaf or hard of hearing using a variety of communication strategies including for example, spoken language, pictures, gestures, and American Sign Language.
